What is it about light rain that makes us calm?
What is it about soft breeze that makes us tinkle?
What is it about smooth skin that makes us feel warm?
It is all about what our senses experience in the moment. We feel loved and cared for when the environment touches us in this way. I think about that every morning. I wake up and step outside my room, and sit down on the floor to meditate. In that moment, when it's still dark, I feel a sense of calm as I listen to my breath. I listen to the clicks of the clocks, and the chirping of the birds. It is a rhythmic morning without music and rhythm. I focus on my voice as the world around me turns dark. I feel powerful as a wave of energy runs through my body. For that moment, I lose track of time and place. Such a place of composure, and people still ask me, what do you do when you meditate?
To them, I say, you would never know until you close your eyes.
